Research Opportunity For The Construction Industry

The Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction has been very fortunate in obtaining a research grant that they believe will make our industry safer and more productive. This research grant will significantly help our industry and the successful completion of the grant will increase the stature and reputation of the Durham School, another significant benefit for all of us.   The research team, as a part of the Durham School of Architectural Engineering and Construction, is looking for construction workers to participate in a study related to hazard identification in construction sites. Participants are expected to fill out a survey after observing some selected images. The whole experiment will take less than an hour and half and the participant’s time will be compensated by providing them with a $50 gift card at the completion of the study.   To be qualified for this job, workers must have: ·         At least 1-2 years of ex ... Save The Date - ABC Annual Golf Tournament

The ABC Golf will be held at Omaha’s Tiburon Golf Club, 10302 S. 168th Street.  In addition to the 18 hole scramble, there’s lunch and dinner at the Tiburon Clubhouse, prizes to be won and also the opportunity to network with the nearly 120 golfers from ABC Cornhusker Chapter member companies and their guests.

Pre-Apprenticeship Pilot Program

Associated Builders & Contractors is offering a Pre-Apprenticeship Pilot Program which begins April 27th, 2015. The NCCER Core curriculum will be utilized for the program.  Classes will be Monday and Tuesday evenings, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. for an eight week period.  ABC is offering a one-time introductory tuition cost of $295.  This price is 50% off the standard fee.  The ABC Pre-Apprenticeship lays out a basic career path in the construction industry.  These classes might be a good fit for your new hires or entry level employees.    In addition, we are offering this program in collaboration with ReConnect, Inc.  The primary goal of ReConnect, Inc. is to give their clients the tools needed to transform their lives and the communities in which they live.  They provide support and services to youths and adults involved in the criminal justice system or at risk of involvement.  Participants who successfully complete the program achieve a credential a ... Connect with other ABC members by attending the Omaha Networking Luncheon at Anthony’s Restaurant on April 15 and the Lincoln Networking Luncheon at Beacon Hills Restaurant on April 28, 2015.
 
Speaker for the Omaha Luncheon will be Jerry Pigsley.  Jerry will also present the Lunch & Learn Topic for both the Omaha and Lincoln luncheons.
 
Speaker for the April Lincoln luncheon will be Rik Barrera with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  Mr. Barrera will speak about the new College of Business Administration project.
