As most of you know, union bannering efforts have been active in the Omaha market.  These union efforts to discredit construction project owners and their merit shop contractors are nothing more than intimidation tactics designed to limit opportunities for the vast majority of the construction workforce that chooses not to join a labor organization and the contractors who employ them. 

Unfortunately, there are no silver bullets for confronting union bannering.  ABC National felt it was important for project owners, contractors, the media and the public to have a credible resource for learning more about union bannering.  Additionally, there are a number of great web videos that national want to distribute as well.  To address these needs, ABC National developed www.shameonunionbanners.com.

This web site describes bannering, provides some myths-facts and is a portal to display and archive valuable videos and news stories.  We believe this is a resource ABC members can use to show owners and GC’s that union bannering is not about area wage standards, but a nationwide, coordinated effort to limit opportunities for merit shop contractors.

In addition there is the ABC Bannering Resource Guide which includes examples of letters to project owners, letters to general contractors and a brief summary of the current legal status of union bannering.  ABC’s vision is that this collection will become a living document, accumulating new and innovative methods for confronting bannering.
